Turns out I don't hate all people

I post a story on social media the other day that I'm flying out to Southern California to pack up my parents' place and drive back to Texas. No help asked for or expected because I'm always the "I'll do it myself" guy. Then I get a message from a guy in the area offering to send help. I'm a pessimist, so I say sure but don't expect anyone to actually come help me pack up a house.

Then I get here and we exchange numbers and plans.

Then U-Haul tried to screw me and instead of a few minutes it takes the better part of a day, and working around escrow and doctor appointments, to get it done. Shout out to Route 66 Auto Repair in Upland for taking care of me.

So I text Travis at 06:00 this morning telling he we are a go. Before 09:00 Chris and Sam show up with tools and back support belts ready to get to work.

Gentleman, your participation and assistance today was nothing short of a blessing. Thank you, guys, for all the help. We can now hit the road tomorrow, have a quick overnight in El Paso, then get home to Leander.

I'm still learning about being ok with receiving help and learning to ask for it. Today, I feel humbled and honored that men I don't know did such a thing for me.
